PGA’s salvia breeding program has been many years in the making. The aim was to purposely cross salvia macrophylla forms with greggii varieties to develop a new range exhibiting characteristics of both parents. After trialing hundreds of potential types, the selection criteria of habit, resulted in the varieties which now comprise many plants but Pride of Place Plants Inc. is very proud to offer: the Salvia Heatwave Collection. ‘Heatwave Blaze’ (crimson), ‘Heatwave Sparkle’ (mauve with white eye), ‘Heatwave Glitter’ (pale pink/mauve) and ‘Heatwave Glimmer’ (cream with black stems). Heatwave ‘Brilliance‘ (magenta) Heatwave ‘Glow’ (light peach color) Heatwave ‘Blast’ (salmon) Heatwave ‘Breeze’ (blue/purple)The collection eliminates the variable range of habits and lack of garden hardiness associated with so many Salvia greggii forms on the market. The gardener can now enjoy compact plants with a choice of vibrant colors that do not fade!
PGA are renowned for their lavender breeding programs which have received international acclaim.
‘With Love’ was born out of a long term, specialized lavender breeding program. After trialing hundreds of potential types of lavenders in both garden and container situations, ‘With Love’ was selected for its compact habit, disease tolerance and prolific flowering. ‘With Love’ has proved fantastic for both single container gift lines and as a superior garden plant.
‘With Love’ provides an outstanding display in winter and spring and continues in flushes year round. Flowers are held tightly just above the foliage, unlike the traditional long-arching flower stems of most lavenders.
“Seeing that one variety we have worked on for many years looking fantastic in a garden inspire us to keep on breeding.”
Pride of Place Plants Inc. is very proud to offer Lavandula stoechas With Love in our offerings!
